Fresh has been a popular spot for vegetarians and vegans in the city and we’re lucky to have a location nearby at Yonge and Eglinton! And you don’t have to be a vegetarian to appreciate the delicious flavours and healthy dishes that they have to offer. They make living well taste really, really good. You may have seen some snaps of their food on Instagram before because, let’s face it, their fresh bowls are also really pretty.

October Update From E Condos: Watch Our Raft Pouring

We have so many exciting updates coming out of our bustling E Condos site at Yonge and Eglinton! Now that the crane is in and the foundation is laid, we’re all ready for the next stage – the raft pour.

In the below video, you can see our bustling site after night falls, where we’re pouring concrete to create the raft slab. Make sure you hit HD so you don’t miss a thing!



A raft slab, or raft foundation, is a style of foundation that uses steel bars to reinforce cement for a super-strong and durable base. This is one in several steps we have to take to ensure that E Condos will be safe, strong, and standing for years to come. It won’t be long until we start to develop above ground, but for now we’re not cutting any corners in ensuring our foundation is as strong as we can make it.

Construction Update: E Condos

It’s been a month since we last updated you on E Condos, our project going up at Yonge and Eglinton – to see our last construction update, head this way.

Things are coming along in the E8 Tower! Tiebacks have been completed and excavation of E8 is down to the dewatering elevation, meaning the dewatering process will start this week! That means we’ve hit groundwater, which we’ll have to drain before construction can continue at E8.

In our last update, we mentioned that the E8 shoring was getting started. That’s since been completed, and the shoring at E15 is about 75% completed as of this week. That means tieback drilling – the process of reinforcing our build with steel rods – will commence when we’re done!

We can’t wait until this building gets above ground, but the foundational progress is some of the most important and we’re thrilled with the progress our amazing construction crew is making so far. June Construction Update: E Condos

Progress at the E Condos site is coming along faster than ever – it’s already time for another construction update! If you missed the previous one,  click here to catch up. We’ve made some major progress in the month of June and, while we’re still in early stages, the site is in great shape and moving on time.

The structural caissons in the E8 (South Tower) raft slab were completed. The shoring work at this slab is currently in progress. Excavation of the third underground floor at the South Tower is also resuming this week.

The previous temporary hydro lines were also replaced with a permanent connection to better service the site. This connection will one day bring power to E Condos residents!

In our last report, demolition at 31 Roehampton was still in progress. Now, that demolition is complete and shoring work is beginning! This is the future site of E15, the North Tower.

Summerlicious 2015: Where To Eat In North Toronto

The city’s biggest warm-weather celebration of food is back, and it’s never been bigger. This year, Summerlicious has added lots of destinations around the city, including an expanded lineup way north of Bloor. We’re thrilled to see Toronto’s growing food scene expanding into Yonge and Eg and Yonge & Sheppard – and since we’ve been in the neighbourhood for a while, we thought we’d intro you to our favourite spots.

Yonge & Eg

The new home of E Condos might be expanding their healthy offerings, but that doesn’t mean they’re short on treat-yourself dinner spots.


This Japanese restaurant has four GTA locations for a reason! If you like interesting executions of clean flavours – and a killer sake and wine list – then look no further. Get a taste of their sushi in your opening course, then opt for Canadian Kobe beef or a Japanese take on salmon cooked en Papillote (in parchment).  See the whole menu here.


This Middle Eastern spot makes sometimes overpowering flavours approachable with Canadian ingredients and attention to freshness and detail. Open for both lunch and dinner during Summerlicious, this spot is particuarly good for vegetarians and vegans (or those who choose to dine with them) as there is no shortage of veggie options. We’ll be lining up for the hallum salad, Tawuk (local chicken) kabobs, and, of course, baklava for dessert. See the whole menu here. 

North 44

Marc McEwan’s popular spot joins Summerlicious once again this year, and if you haven’t stopped by, consider this an excellent opportunity for an introduction. Contemporary food with French and international inspiration has made this spot a landmark, and their Summerlicious menu doesn’t disappoint – see it here.

Yonge & Shepperd

Yonge & Shepperd is another area where great food (and great living!) has come to stay.

Auberge du Pommier

French food isn’t as trendy as some of Summerlicious’ other cuisines, but it’s a staple for a reason. Get your fix of classic sauces, proteins and fresh summer veggies at this high-rated, and usually quite expensive, destination. Open for lunch and dinner – see the menu here.

Paese Restaurante

It’s hard to pass up an opportunity for a really great Italian meal – especially one as well-crafted as you’ll get at Paese. Their dishes use traditional Italian ingredients and techniques executed differently, so everything you eat is equal parts familiar and surprising, like the pan-seared red snapper with oven-dried mango salsa available for Summerlicious. Oliver & Bonacini Cafe Grill

This Oliver & Bonacini outpost has something on their Summerlicious menu for everyone – from jambalaya to jerk chicken, if you have picky friends chances are you’ll all find what you’re looking for here. The savoury menu is strong, but it’s the Canadian desserts – bear claws, pie with local apples & peaches, or a Beemster cheese plate – that we’re looking forward to. See the whole menu here.

Fresh juice bars are sprouting up faster than we can count them – a trend pioneered by the amazing minds behind Toronto-based Greenhouse Juice Co. If you’re an Instagram user, chances are you’ve come across their amazing photos already – but if you haven’t yet been to their Briar Hill location, you’re missing out.

One thing that differentiates Greenhouse from other juices is that they’re cold-pressed, meaning no heat is used in the juicing process. Greenhouse uses hydraulic presses, which extract the most nutrients, enzymes and that amazing colour from every certified organic fruit and veggie. Grocery-store juices don’t use this method, which is why those are generally less vibrant and nutrient-dense. This sunny yellow juice is made with lemon, grapefruit, orange, and liquid cayenne.  If you’ve tried MasterCleanse before, this mix will be familiar to you! The citrus fruits pack a ton of vitamin C for an instant energy boost with the power to fight off whatever bug a compromised immune system might not be. Liquid cayenne ups your metabolism, plus it helps flush liver and kidneys. The Wake Up is also great for those trying to lower their caffeine intake – try it!


Long Day At Work – Rabbit, Run

If your workday is prone to stretching way beyond five – or just particularly good at cramming a lot of stress into 8 hours – Rabbit Run will be your new best friend. This one’s carrot-based, with apple and ginger for a bit of bite. Headaches will be less pronounced, as the carrot and ginger boosts your immune system and reduces inflammation. Make this juice a habit, and you’ll also notice your hair, skin and nails will look even better.


Too Much Take-out – The Good

This is a classic green juice for those whose diets might be a bit lacking. A salad for when you’re not really feeling a salad, The Good is made from romaine, celery, spinach and cucumber. All those greens will detox the junk you’ve been eating, and help bring the glow back to your skin. Himalayan rock salt and lemon prevent it from tasting too green, though – this one’s easy to drink and easy to love.


The Everyday – Deep Roots

If you want to add juice to your everyday routine, Deep Roots is a great pick. Beets are surprisingly sweet when juiced, so beginners will love this one. Add crowd-pleasing carrot, apple, celery and lemon and you have a winner. This juice will keep your immune system running smoothly, regulate your hormones (seriously!) and start cleaning out your blood and lungs over time. You’ll also noticed increased endurance next time you hit the gym.


When You Absolutely Can’t Be Sick Right Now – The Boosters

These pocket-sized healthy shots are ideal when you feel a cold coming on – drink them in one gulp and you’ll be back to normal in no time. Our favourite, the Flu Shot, has active echinacea, Reishi, codonopsis, astragalus, oil of oregano and lemon, but their five Booster options have the cure for whatever ails you.
