Colour Stories: Our Favourite Red Decor
Summer’s coming to an end and the chill in the air means fall will be here soon! We’re already thinking about ways to change up our decor from light linens and summery pastels to something a little richer for autumn. A great colour to bridge both seasons is red – styled brightly, it pops and styled with heavier textures and darker hues, it’s decidedly cozy and inviting.
Below is a selection of our favourite red decor to take you from beach days to pumpkin spice lattes! You can find many of these at the stores featured in our King West design guide! But first, a little inspiration – you can click any of these photos to go to their source. Continue reading
Toronto Design Districts: Antique Spotting on West Queen West
We think Toronto doesn’t get enough credit as a design mecca – which is shocking, because there are beautiful things to be had and inspiring people to talk to seemingly everywhere. As the city matures, several smaller design districts have blossomed, each with their own aesthetics and cornerstone establishments. We have our favourites around town and we’ll be sharing them with you – you can check out our favourite spots on the King East strip here. Continue reading
Get The Look: Scandi Bedroom
Scandinavian style is all the rage right now, and for good reason. This Instagram-worthy style is all about pulling off an eclectic, laid-back vibe with attention to detail and design. Textures also play an important part of making these spaces feel warm and inviting, without being overbearing. Summer heat is in full swing here in Toronto, so we think there’s no better time to lighten up your style and create a space perfect for waking up – or sleeping in – while the sun streams through your window. Get The Look: Mid-Century Modern
One of the most important things to consider when decorating a condo is continuity. Condos are, more often than not, very open – living, dining and kitchen areas generally share the same space. This is when it becomes important that decor is cohesive, as small inconsistencies will stick out like a sore thumb. Cohesion also helps enlarge a space, instead of chopping it into pockets of different colours and patterns. Continue reading
2015’s Best Balcony Garden Trends

Plus, a balcony garden is easier to put up and take down, cheaper, and requires way less time. You can even grow vegetables, provided you’re getting enough light. Let’s take a look at 2015’s biggest outdoor trends – you’ll be halfway to the garden centre by the time you finish. Continue reading

Architecture The Doesn’t Serve a Purpose: Washington Monument
Last month we started a new series titled ‘Architecture That Doesn’t Serve a Purpose’ where we look at famous landmarks from around the world, that are just that: landmarks. We took a look at the Eiffel Tower, how and when it was created and what it’s used for today (spoiler alert: only good for attracting tourism). This month, we take a look at something a little closer to home: the Washington Monument.
Architecture The Doesn’t Serve a Purpose: Eiffel Tower
Even if you’ve never been to Paris, you’re probably well aware of what the Eiffel Tower is. It’s one of the most famous landmarks and tourists flock to the site by the hundreds. But what does the Eiffel Tower do? Besides attracting tourists from all around the world, not so much actually.
