The Santa Claus Parade Through The Years

This weekend marks the official beginning of the holiday season, and that’s because of the 110th Annual Toronto Santa Claus Parade! We love the holiday season – the festive cheer everywhere, the holiday windows at Holt’s, the peppermint in everything from lotions to our drinks, and everything that comes along with the most wonderful time of the year.

This year’s Santa Claus Parade is on Sunday, November 16th and Santa is expected to arrive at 12:30 PM. The parade will then start from Christie Pits, head down Bloor, go past The ROM, turn onto Avenue, past the Eaton Centre, swing left onto Wellington and end at the St. Lawrence Market.

But for now, let’s go on a walk down memory lane and take a look at Toronto Santa Claus Parades over the years: Continue reading

Your Taste of Tokyo in Toronto

Do you know what izakaya means in Japanese? It translates to a casual drinking establishment that also serves food, pretty much what English-speaking people would call a gastropub. There are many izakaya restaurants all over Toronto but of all the ones we’ve been to, Yuzu Izakaya was the most surprising in terms of quality and overall feel. You might think we’re talking about a restaurant near Yorkville, or even Yonge and Eglinton, but you’d be wrong. Yuzu Izakaya is located a little bit further north at Yonge and Finch, just 10 minutes away from our own Emerald Park. Continue reading

Support Toronto Arts at Salon West

As we’ve told you before, Yorkville is Toronto’s artistic and cultural hub. With Exhibit and now 1 Yorkville, we have become a part of this fantastic neighbourhood and the many events that take place here. Next week, on November 5, one of our favourite events series is taking place right around the corner from Exhibit. If you haven’t been to a Salon West event to take in Toronto’s culture, we suggest you start ASAP! Continue reading

Yorkville Art Crawl: Our Favourite Galleries in Yorkville

Being a part of the Yorkville community really means having access to some of the greatest things Toronto has to offer. Our city has a vibrant arts culture and Yorkville has been a hub for that since their hippy days in the 60s, up to today with the AGO, Canada’s largest art gallery, just a 10-minute walk from Exhibit. The reality of it is that you don’t even have to go that far to visit some of Toronto’s best art galleries, and you might even be able to take something home! Yorkville’s local galleries are places for local artists to sell their amazing work, or international artists to find some new fans in Toronto. Check out some of our favourites. Continue reading

A Makeover at Hazelton Lanes

hazelton lanes

Those familiar with Yorkville’s history will know that Hazelton Lanes Shopping Centre was the original high-end Yorkville shopping mall, which opened in 1976. And now, it’s about to go through a very exciting transformation, which is all a part of a project spearheaded by the Centre’s owner, as well as the Whole Food Markets and TNT The New Trend. A Whole New Grocery Store Coming to Yonge and Sheppard

Yonge and Sheppard Grocery Stores

It’s not like we need to give you another reason to love Yonge and Sheppard, but we figure if you got it, flaunt it and that’s exactly what we’re going to do. Along with the awesome retailers coming to Emerald Park, like Metro and LCBO, our neighbourhood will be home to a Whole Foods Market in the very near future. With only one other location in Toronto, which is located in the heart of Yorkville, Whole Foods Market is an exclusive amenity that very few neighbourhoods in Canada get to enjoy. Continue reading

Bang & Olufsen in Yorkville

Bang & Olufsen in Yorkville

We consider ourselves to be techies – we love gadgets and gizmos and our Christmas wish list (is it too early to be talking about Christmas?) always includes the latest electronics. Knowing this, you can just imagine how excited we are to call Bang & Olufsen our neighbours – their flagship Toronto store is right down the street from Exhibit and 1 Yorkville! Continue reading

Murder at the ROM

Grid6

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: one of the best things about our future project 1 Yorkville is that it’s so close to the Royal Ontario Museum. We like to check out its many exhibitions, wander aimlessly for hours admiring the different jewels, artefacts and treasures from all around the world, and attend the many events! There’s the much-talked about Friday Night Live, when the ROM turns into a late-night party with fun, food and great music, and then there’s the Urban Capers’ Murder at the ROM.
