As we’ve told you before, Yorkville is Toronto’s artistic and cultural hub. With Exhibit and now 1 Yorkville, we have become a part of this fantastic neighbourhood and the many events that take place here. Next week, on November 5, one of our favourite events series is taking place right around the corner from Exhibit. If you haven’t been to a Salon West event to take in Toronto’s culture, we suggest you start ASAP!
In their own words, Salon West is “an accessible social space for much-needed dialogue on arts and culture in Toronto.” Their main goal is to unite and grow the arts and culture community, and there’s no better way to do that than throwing awesome events. Every month, Salon West gathers to discuss what’s going on in our city’s arts community and next month will continue that tradition. There is one major difference next month though. November’s edition of Salon West will feature a chamber music performance by Pocket Concerts.
November’s event is at the Dignam Gallery of the Women’s Art Association of Canada, which is just 5 minutes away from St. George station. The concert, led by Emily Rho on the piano and Rory McLeod on the viola, will be the first of its kind for Salon West and will be a great introduction into the discussions to follow. Be prepared to come chat about how different venues shape the experience of a performer, and how a venue can bring a vision to life. Special guests include Lawrence Cherney the Artistic Director of Soundstreams, Isolde Pleasants-Faulkner a Stage Manager who has worked with everyone from the COC to the National Ballet of Canada, and Rory McLeod a violist and Artistic Director of Pocket Concerts.
