Yorkville is often thought of when you think of fine dining and the best in luxury shopping, but another aspect that makes the neighbourhood so special is the culture you’ll find here. Yorkville is home to many of the city’s most beloved galleries, and plays host to a slew of events in the arts. One such event is the Yorkville Village Arts Festival – a juried exhibition of contemporary art by students and recent grads from OCAD University. Running from Friday November 4th – Wednesday November 9th, here are some of the highlights.

The exhibition itself starts Friday November 4th, with opening night! Here you’ll get your first look at the participating works. On Saturday November 5th you’ll be able to enjoy a full day of events. At the beginning of the day guests will be able to partake in a digital painting workshop. Dahae Song will lead a workshop that teaches you how to digitally paint on your iPad, iPhone or Android! That afternoon visitors will have the opportunity to meet the artists, and take in their works on display. You can look forward to pieces from Toronto independent artists, such as Mike Goldby, Lindsay Ferriss, and Monica Moraru. There will also be a live painting event taking place! Dahae Song will continue to work on a large-scale piece that she began on the first evening of the exhibition. Guests will be able to watch as her creative process unfolds.
