It’s hard to believe, but autumn is around the corner, which means we’re quickly heading toward the holiday season. It’s the time of year where we gather with friends and family, enjoy having company over and catching with friends on the year that was, as we sip hot apple cider.
If you’re starting to think about ways to refresh your cozy Toronto condo interior in time for the season, we have some suggestions on how to keep your condo’s decor up to date.
Colour:
Neutral colours are always going to be a safe choice. However, many designers are beginning to move away from the white and grey tones. As the weather cools, embrace warm, colours like auburn, blush and green.
Accents & Texture:
If you’re not the type to embrace colourful walls and prefer to keep things neutral, that works too. Consider using accent pieces to weave texture into your interior, making your space more inviting. This trend has staying power as well, only recently appearing recently. Brushed brass, light fixtures, quilts are just some examples of how to incorporate texture into the decor. A quick test of the trend: Drape a wool throw or mixed fabric pillows on a leather chair.
Condo Decor:
Autumn decorating doesn’t change much year to year, and 2017 hasn’t strayed far from the trend. Rustic furniture has been a hot trend, and nothing says rustic, quite like wicker furniture. As always Gourds and Pumpkins are an essential part of the season but instead of traditional centrepieces or Cornucopias, get creative. Accent end tables with metal buckets painted stones and pitchers filled with faux wheat and plants. Just get rid of the gourds before December otherwise you’re just leaving produce lying around the house.
Bring the Outdoors, In:
Fall wreaths are always a welcome addition to a front door and make for a fun arts and crafts project, for the do-it-yourself type. Use dried leaves, pinecones, acorns and moss in a variety of projects. The more of the piece you make yourself, the more genuine & natural it will feel, making it more inviting to your guests.
