We’ve already seen such an advance in mobile phones over the last several years – do you remember your old Nokia flip phone? Now your phone can do everything you can … and more! Smart technology is everywhere – cars, phones and even homes. Yes, homes! This week, we take a look at how you can create your very own Smart Home.
The Sono
City life is fun, it’s exciting but it can be loud – and we hear you. It’s a common issue that people face when moving out of the quiet suburbs and into the loud concrete jungle. Well, what if we told you there is a device out there that attaches to your window and cancels all noises that you don’t want to hear – like the construction down the road, or those obnoxious honks.
It’s still in prototype mode so we haven’t had a chance to test it out – but we’re definitely adding it to our wish list!
The Smart Kettle
Tea connoisseurs know that not every tea can be steeped at the same temperature. In fact, to truly enjoy different blends, you need to steep it to the right temperature for the right amount of time. It’s a lot of work for those who don’t have a handy guide with them at all times, but this Kettle does the work for you. There are 5 temperature settings for optimal brewing temperatures for a plethora of teas and coffees, including settings for boil, coffee, black tea, oolong tea, green tea, white tea and can keep it warm for about 20 minutes. Pretty snazzy, right?
The Chop-Syc
The Chop-Syc designed by Sharp is basically a giant tablet that you can chop your vegetables on. You first find the recipe you want on the tablet, it could be something you found online or one you made up. As you start chopping your vegetables, the built-in scale tells you whether you’ve chopped too much or too little, and will alert you when to stop.
Note: this is another product that is not yet sold in stores, but we’re counting on it to be available in the near future!
The Nest
If you’re like us, you check the thermostat when you walk in the door to your home, and adjust it accordingly. Sometimes you forget to change it and only remember when it’s too hot/cold in your unit. Well, the Nest Learning Thermostat learns your schedule and programs itself so you never have to worry about it. You can also adjust it from your phone meaning your home is at the perfect temperature when you come back. It’s smart and will save you money – it can lower your heating and cooling bills up to 20%.
