One of our favourite things is taking a peek at renderings at different buildings going up around the world. The more things progress, the more daring the architecture becomes. There’s a constant race to be the tallest and to push the boundaries of design and convention. We’ve rounded up some of our favourites that we’re hoping will be brought to life soon!
1. Sky Mile Tower
These plans are nothing short of ambitious! This mile-high skyscraper would measure up to be twice the size of Burj Khalifa. It would be a part of a futuristic mega-city called Next Tokyo that is designed to adapt to the climate change projected for the future. We’ll definitely be keeping our tabs on this fascinating project.
2. Dubai Creek Harbour tower
The plans for this observation deck won a competition to design an observation tower for Dubai and is set to rival Burj Khalifa. The exact height of this tower is currently unknown but it was designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. The needle-like structure will feature an observation pod near the top and is already being compared to the Eiffel Tower.
3. Game of Thrones-inspired skyscraper
This amazing skyscraper was designed by architect Mark Foster Gage. He was commissioned to create a 102-story building for New York City and took a unique approach to it and incorporated gothic style and gargoyles to make his design anything but boring. Compare it to the glass buildings that currently make up the skyline of Manhattan, this will be a definite departure from the ordinary.
