The holiday season is peppered with all kinds of seasonal events, but none are quite as significant as New Year’s Eve. NYE is a complicated occasion that is often faced with varied opinions. For some, they absolutely can’t wait until the end of the year arrives and they can toast the previous and next 365 days (with a glass of bubbly in hand of course). For others, December 31st is the worst night of the year due to all the hype and often expectations fall short. The key to having a great New Year’s Eve is picking a cool, fun party, and making sure you’re surrounded by people you care about. The ROM’s NYE party may be just the ticket!
For the first time ever the Royal Ontario Museum will be hosting a New Year’s Eve party. We all should have seen this coming, with the ROM’s ‘Friday Night Live’ events, which have been an overwhelming success in the city. If you’ve never partied at the ROM before, let us paint you a picture – in one hand you have a refreshing mixed drink, in the other hand tasty food from a nearby chef, you’re dancing to great beats provided by a popular DJ on a bumping dance floor – oh – and did we mention the skeleton of a dinosaur is just behind you? The experience is very cool, and probably one of the city’s most unique parties. We have no doubt their sold out New Year’s Eve soirée will be any different. Here’s what to look forward to.
Live Music

You can expect to dance to the city’s largest musician collective – the St. Royals! This live band will be bringing their Rhythm and Soul Revue show to help lead guests through the countdown into the new year.
DJ’s
Two different DJ groups will be playing great tunes to keep people dancing all night. The DJ duo that is Sweet Touch Foundation is brought to you by two brothers who have been on the scene since the 90’s and will definitely keep the dance floor busy. You’ll also be treated to a bit of everything – funk, jazz, dancehall, pop, disco, rock, 80’s – from DJ Fathom, a Toronto favourite.
Special Access to Chihuly Exhibit
A great draw of the event is that ticket holders will be given exclusive access to the Chihuly exhibit. Guests will be treated to an exploration in colour and light from one of the foremost artists working with glass today – Dale Chihuly. You’ll have exclusive access between 9 and 11pm.
The party will start at 9pm and end at 2am. Cocktail attire is required, so come ready to celebrate the new year in style. Sadly, the tickets sold out in mere minutes, but we can only imagine this will become an annual fixture during the holiday season. Were you one of the lucky ones to snag a ticket??
