As the year draws to a close we realize what that nagging thing in the back of our mind was reminding us to do. No, it wasn’t to buy a gift for the neighbour (we already did that), or to get the turkey ahead of time (did that too and it’s organic!). It was setting New Year’s resolutions! While resolutions can be a bit of an annoying or daunting task, it doesn’t hurt to set out some goals before the new year begins, in the hopes of making the most of the next 365 days. In case you’re stumped, here are some ideas for making New Year’s resolutions, and how to stick to them!
While this resolution is fairly standard, and a little broad, it’s a good one to set. Everyone could benefit from being a little healthier from time to time, especially after the holiday season where indulgence tends to win over self-control! Trying to eat better and exercise more is a great place to start in terms of living a healthier life. Check out our blog post about healthy living at Yonge and Eglinton, where we highlight some great places to get healthy eats, freshly pressed juice, and work out! Also, our post on Yorkville’s Equinox should inspire you to hit the gym (or maybe the spa instead).
See Friends More Often

While the photo may suggest breaking resolution number 1, it helps foster the goal you set for resolution number 2: see friends more often! As you get older, it becomes more important to nurture the friendships that have lasted the test of time. The greatest way to do this? Make time in your life for these people! Say yes to meeting up more! We’ve got some great ideas of where to grab a drink at Yonge and Eglinton or Yorkville! Or perhaps you’d rather grab a coffee and gab about what’s been going on in each other’s lives! We’ve got some tips for that one too, with our post about our top 5 coffee shops around Yonge and Eg!
Spend More Time With Family

Resolution number 3 is not far off from your second resolution, in that it encourages you to spend more time with those who mean the most to you, such as your family! With our busy work and social lives, it’s sometimes hard to make time or the extra effort to see family, but it’s certainly important. These are the people who are by your side through thick and thin (especially if you decide to ignore resolution number 1). We’ve got ideas for how to spend a winter day north of Bloor with your family, or how to celebrate the holidays with them, or perhaps you could all spend the day in Yorkville! It’s not important how you spend this quality time, but more so who it’s spend with.
Get Out and Explore!

Apart from spending time with friends and family, and promising to live a little healthier each day, it’s important to keep yourself curious and cultured! Whether you’re exploring locally, or abroad, resolving to get out and see more of the world would be a great addition to your New Year’s resolution list!
