A few weeks ago, we took you around Yorkville’s ‘sweet’ spots, guaranteed to fulfill any sugar craving you may have. This time we decided to showcase three bakeries and cafes at Yonge and Eglinton, that we’re sure our future E Condos residents and everyone in the neighbourhood will love.
A trip to Yonge and Eglinton is never complete without a quick stop at La Bohéme for some authentic French pastries. Head Chef Marc Tournayre uses only fresh and local ingredients in his sugary concoctions, meaning there are no additional artificial preservatives. We wholeheartedly recommend the almond croissants and raspberry tarts.
Bonus: It’s also a popular venue to catch live music nights, art exhibitions and film screenings!
If you’ve never had the pleasure of indulging in a cup of frozen custard, you’re missing out! Jed first experienced the cool treat in the early 90s when he was studying abroad in the US. From his first spoonful, he knew he had to share the love. And so he did! It’s very similar to ice cream, made with cream and sugar, but there’s also the addition of eggs. We love the smooth and cold treat! Perfect for a hot summer day.
By now you’ve probably realized we have a special spot in our hearts (and stomachs) for macarons. The small French pastries have taken Toronto by storm but some of the best in the city can be found at Ruelo Patisserie. The Yonge and Eglinton location is fairly new, and is the second to join the Ruelo family. We love picking up a box of assorted macarons, but the créme brûlée and raspberry are our favourite amongst the melt-in-your-mouth delicacies.
All this talk about sweets makes us happy that E Condos will be down the street from so many cafes. You can definitely satisfy your sugar cravings in Yonge and Eglinton!
