Check out our posts on wooden buildings and treescaping.

1. Shimao Wonderland Intercontinental, China

The hotel will be built into the quarry walls, bending to the natural curve of the lake. The adjacent natural lakes and waterfalls are both a source of natural power for the hotel and offer guests tons of outdoor activities. Construction on this incredible building is underway, but the completion has been postponed from 2015 to 2017, so you’ll have to stay tuned to see how it all turns out. (source)

2. The Iceberg, Denmark

Isbjerget Isbjerget Isbjerget We love this residential development because, while it’s definitely modern and fresh, it still fits into the landscape of Denmark seamlessly. The jagged edges are bold and create incredible, one-of-a-kind lofts. It’s great to see such an architectural risk pay off! (photo source)

3. Farming Kindergarden, Vietnam

01_aerial_view_from_SW 17_night_from_SW 08_eastern_courtyard How amazing would it be to send your kids to a kindergarden like this? This area of Vietnam is changing from an agriculture-based economy to an industrial one, so the architects behind this beautiful, looping building wanted to maintain as much green space as they could. Plus, the building uses 25% less energy and 40% less water than the average school. All that, and a vegetable garden on the roof? What could be better? (source)
