Yonge and Sheppard is one of the many neighbourhoods in Toronto that’s growing rapidly and experiencing an increase in local businesses opening up in the area. We’re happy to be a part of this growth and development with our Emerald Park project and we’d like to highlight a few notable places in the area where you can grab a bite to eat or hang out.
Estrella Taqueria is “North York’s answer to the downtown taco trend” according to Toronto Life. We agree wholeheartedly and would like to take it a bit further by saying it is one of the best Mexican (French-Mex according to the chefs) food we’ve ever had! The guacamole is fresh, the food is unique and everything just tastes great. They just opened up last November but we’re already regulars! P.S. the patio will be opening up next month – can’t wait!
Memphis Smoke House has been open for several years now but still remains a favourite in the neighbourhood. The backstory is this: the owners went on a vacation to the birthplace of authentic southern BBQ, Memphis! They found some secret recipes for great southern food and brought it back to Toronto. The rest is history!
Nawab Fusion Grill is the place to go if you want to try Butter Chicken Pizza! We love that they go beyond traditional Indian food and fuse it with different cuisines. We’ve also sampled the Saffron Chicken (much creamier than the sister dish Butter Chicken) and the signature Nawab Garlic Balls.
Toronto Centre for the Arts – We’ve been talking about all these places to go get food, but we’ve barely touched on what there is to do in the area. You can catch a movie at the Cineplex or you can catch a live performance at the Toronto Centre for the Arts. Upcoming shows include New Jerusalem and Bingo.
Nome Izakaya has buck-a-shuck oysters on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Need we say more? It’s a great location, and you’ll leave raving about how Nome Izakaya is your new favourite place because of the service, food and atmosphere.
